Year 10 ‘Unit 1 Writing’ scheme of learning (9 September to 4 October)

I have attached the Unit 1 Writing (Children’s literature leaflet or podcast script) scheme of learning for the coming half-term. Use it to see what you have learned so far, what are learning now and what you will be learning over the coming weeks! You will be able to look ahead to what’s coming up and also to do some preparation in advance, e.g. look up the meanings of some of the key words.

If you have any questions about the scheme of learning, then please come and see me in room 16, email me or put your question in the comments box below.

Poetry scheme of learning for Yr 10 English Literature students

I have attached the scheme of learning for the ‘unseen’ poetry part of your English Literature GCSE. Please note that Eng Lit students will be doing a GCSE speaking and listening assessment (the real thing!) on 9 & 10 July and will then complete a mock GCSE poetry question on 19 July. Home learning tasks are also given so you know in advance what you will be required to do at home.

‘Macbeth’ scheme of learning for Year 10 English Literature students

I have attached the scheme of learning for the ‘Scottish play’ – Macbeth. I have incorporated many of the ideas that you came up with in your groups, e.g. SWAT (single word analysis technique), role-play, discussion and others. I hope that you will enjoy exploring this intense, absorbing tragedy.

Please take note of the dates of the controlled assessment at the end of the scheme of learning (14 & 15 June) and that you read the examiner’s comments for advice and pitfalls.

If you have any questions about it, contact me in person or use the comments box below.
