Elections? Why do we need them? Why do we have them?
We have them so that it is fare that us as a society can’t fight over, we have all put in are votes and if ur not happy with it then u either you should of got more people to vote by campaigning or if you didn’t vote then that is ur fault for not putting ur vote in.

This half term in English we have been focusing on the election. We started by getting put into a political party. We did a debate and speech on politics. The general election is where different parties fight to lead the country. Each party has different policies. The 5 main parties are green party, Labour, conservative, UKIP and Lib Dem. There are some different policies for different party but I am just going to tell you a few. The green party has many policies for education but this one is important- saying all children shouldn’t start school until the age of 7. The candidates in the south hams put themselves out there by going into communities and representing there party and also going into schools to teach kids about politics who can teach their parents about politics. It is very important that every kid learns about politics because they will need to know for when they old enough to vote as it is important they do so that they have a say in what they do and if we don’t vote then we shouldn’t complain what we do.

The election is a thing were politicians fight for their political party’s so David Cameron’s political party is conservatives and Ed Milliband’s political party is labour and so on. People have to vote for who they want to be there next prime minster.
We have been voting for the prime ministers from 1832 but for some it has not been as long. Women has only received the vote in 1918.

Dartmouth academy year nine students have been doing an election an election is something to decide who is the best leader or party for our country there are the conservatives, labour, libdem, UKIP, and green and two minor party’s which are SNP and the welch party. At Dartmouth academy all the students had a polling station to vote for the party they believe is the best and that has turn out to be UKIP. Most people say this will affect the future because if the younger generation vote for Ukip who says that won’t vote for ukip in the future. Most of the students of the Dartmouth academy say they don’t care about the polices they just want certain people because they are more popular than the others.
Most of the students did care about some of the polices such as Arron smith who said I think the idea of building special need schools because this will develop learning for the disabled, but Arron smith also said that if green won and said we have to go to school seven because is apparently using us into learning instead of saying hay here’s some paper and here’s and pen and a pencil start learning but they want them to go to school at seven well if there was a child with special needs then the poor child won’t be able to learn properly and that’s why he did not vote green but he would have.
In the sunny town of Paignton there’s a called Paul Hobson who said he would have voted for labour but he can’t because the labour party won’t be able to come into the south hams so for that reason he voted libdem because they are able to come down into the south hams but he also said that conservatives can do the same thing but he just doesn’t like the conservatives for that reason he did not vote the conservatives or labour
The year nines of Dartmouth had to create a speech for each of their party’s and then they had a debate about it and it was said that UKIP won that as well and then each party did a speech for their party’s and since UKIP have won the school is very very surprised for certain reasons.

So year nine students were each given a party they had to promote some were ukip some were green some were labour and some were conservatives, and some were libdem so each party made a speech together and they practiced their speeches one was writing one was speaking and one was giving the ideas so when they practiced and finished writing the speech and given ideas they did a debate with the other party’s no one was told who won the debate. So when they all did their debates they did preparation for the speech they had to do in front of the school to promote each of their party’s so it turned out that ukip won the speech and won the election and the vote.
