As we began in class today, please ensure you come into tomorrow’s lesson having completed Question C:
Explain the importance of violence in one other part of the novel.
In your answer, you must consider:
an event where violence takes place
how violence affects those involved.
We studied Section 4, in which Crooks, Candy and Curley’s Wife experience conflict. You could also use:
Curley’s violent manner from the outset; the killing of Candy’s dog; the death of Curley’s wife; Curley’s intentions towards Lennie; the killing of Lennie. Anything else is valid, as long as it’s argued well.
Remember to show:
how that part of the novel shows characters influenced by violence
how that part of the novel shows violence affecting relationships
how violence in that part of the novel drives the plot
what the writer is saying about violence
As you began this in your books, complete the question in your book, and we can mark it tomorrow.
