Write the first chapter of a series of books for young adults about a world where the economy has broken down and the shops are empty.
The prologue to the above, twelve months prior, finds a country where petrol is being rationed, people are being encouraged to grow their own food, the police have been given extra powers and are armed, a curfew is in place and immigrants are being expelled from Britain. This provides the back-story to your own opening chapter, though how much of it you mention, and how you mention it, is entirely up to you.
You will write your chapter (approx. 1000 words) next week in the double lessons on Tuesday 4 and Thursday 6 March.
