A Case of Murder – Thursday 6th February

We have just finished our character hot-seating.
Do you have a further understanding of why the boy did it?
Do you think the boy is to blame?

In understand that the must be sad but i think it is the parents fault because they left him in the basement with the cat.As it said in the poem sometimes the cat get treated better then the boy.So i don’t think he meant to kill the cat.

I have a bigger understanding of why the boy do it because he is really annoyed with the cat and the cat is following him so why wouldn’t you get annoyed and he said that it was a buzzing machine I would get annoyed. I think it is the cats fault because it was annoying the boy.

I think that it is not the boys fault for killing the cat, it is the parents fault for leaving the boy alone in the house on his own because if his mum or dad was with him he would of not of killed the cat and they would of put the cat in a different room of the flat.
Also if I had a cat which was annoying me I would of just walked out of its way and shut the door behind me so it would not be enable to come in and make a buzzing machine noise.

I think that the boy gets hit with ‘Daddy’s stick’ regularly. His dad must be angry with him when he does it, so the boy thinks that when he’s angry it’s okay to hit the cat with the stick. I’ve got the impression that his parents don’t think much of him. I think The parents are to blame for this whole situation.

He answer to that is yes I do have a further understanding of the poem and the hot seating made it easier to think different ways such as it wasn’t the boys desicion to be in a basement flat all by himself. Also he used his dad’s stick which is obviously a bad idea with nine year old child.
I think that the boy is to blame because you don’t just have the sudden urge to hit a cat, plus if he wanted it to go away he should have not slammed the door on it but let it go out to stop bothering him.
