11XEN2 – What are you reading?

As discussed, we are moving on to the Unit 1 writing controlled assessment.
We are writing about literature and you MUST be reading outside of lessons.

I want to know what you are currently reading. If you are not reading a book at the moment, when was the last time you read a book?

Nicolas sparks, Dear john. The boom is about a boy a young man who meets a girl when he is back from war, he falls in love with her but then has to go back to war, they write letters to each other will he is out there… Eventually they end up breaking up and she marry a man who she has known all her life and was a close friend throughout the book. He then gets cancer and passes away, then they meet out of coincidence and become close again.

I liked this book because I like reading about war and love story’s as I find it intriguing and can preserver through out the book.

I’m reading the Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien at the minute, o started reading it in year ten a ended up forgetting about it over the summer holidays. this home learning and the release of the new movie motivated me to start again. i forgot how good it is and that its not that bad to spend half and hour reading a night. the story is really good and i cant wait to finish it so i can go and see the movie in the cinema.

I’m glad you are reading Merlin, but I have to say, I stopped reading it when I was young, because I didn’t think it was very good. I went back to it more recently to read it with my kids and still don’t think it’s very good! I loved Lord of the Rings when I was 11, and then read it again just before the films came out and thought it was wonderful. Reading it again more recently, not so convinced, but FAR superior to ‘The Hobbit’. J.R.R. grows as a writer through the books.

At the moment I am reading The Beach by Andy Garland, I am enjoying it, it is very interesting and entertaining. The film motivated me to read the book, so far it is better than the film!

I am reading Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz. I have rencently started reading this book again as it is an enjoyable book. This book is the first of the series that instantly pulled me in to read the rest of them. It is about a 14 year old boy called Alex Rider who lives with his Uncle Ian because his parents died in a plane crash just a week after he was born. Now that Alex is older, his Uncle dies in a car crash, leaving Alex looking deeper into how exactly he died. His Uncle wasn’t a banker. He was a spy for MI6 and his death was no accident. Alex is then recruited by MI6 to finish his Uncle Ian’s final mission. But Alex must decide between school or MI6.
