I am going to read the beginning chapter of a few different books, to give me ideas of what to structure it like. Also I am going to look at some dialogue within those books to get hints of what good dialogue looks and sounds like. I may also research into a description of a women that fits in with the emotions my character is going through,

I am going to look on google at how you should start a story, how to use dialogue and how to build up to a climax. I am also going to try and find some examples to read so that I can see how other people do it properly.

I am going to read the first page of about 5 books to see what makes an effective opening and look it up on the internet what techniques are best to build tension.

I’m going to research how to use semi colons, so I can use them and also how to write a good short story. I also need to find out how to build suspense as that is one my weaknesses.

I’m going to read the openings of a variety of books I have, looking at their first chapter and how that start and introduce the story, also looking at the use of dialogue. I also may find a character similar to the main character in my story, researching into how they would feel, how they would speak and how they would act in the situations they may come across; I may do this through characters from books I have read or through looking on the internet.

I am going to read the start of a few different books, this will help give me a few different ideas on effective ways to start a story. I will also use the internet and my English book to go over use of dialogue and punctuation to ensure I gain as many marks as possible.

I have been looking at some examples of books, especially from James Herbert and James Patterson, to get an idea of effective sentence and plot structure. I will then review some short bursts of writing that I have produced, meaning that I can compare them to these authors, but also use a marking criteria to make sure that what I am doing is going in the right direction. of course, I will spend most of my time making sure I don’t cram too much detail into the chapter, and effectively develop characters.
