Poetry By Heart – a competition for Year 10 students

ScreenShot029

As part of your poetry studies, Year 10s, you will be taking part in a poetry recital (reading) competition. Your challenge is to learn two poems, one from before 1914 and one from 1914 and onwards. As the name of the competition suggests, you must learn the poem by heart (you will memorise the poems) and be able to read them aloud to your class.

Each Year 10 class shall have its own competition to elect a class champion; from all three champions, we can then elect a winner to represent Dartmouth Academy in a national Poetry By Heart competition in London in March 2014.

See the Poetry By Heart website (www.poetrybyheart.org.uk) for more details.
