Mr Legowski’s 11xEN1 home learning – due Monday 7 October

Well, that’s the practice poetry assessment finished and I am very pleased with the effort and engagement that you have shown.

The real thing is next week (Thursday 10 October, to be continued the following week) so as part of the preparation for it, I’d like you to share your good practice with your friends and peers. Please write one thing you did well in your mock in the comments box below.

Thanks for your efforts and a fine start to Year 11.

I explained all of my points well by thinking about why and how the poet was putting across his view. I done this by not only explaining a full quote but shortening it down and explaining individual parts such as one strong word within the line.

  2. Georgia Atkins

I used relevant quotes that portrayed the perspectives on war clearly and then developed them. Also I broke some of the quotes down shorter and explained each part to add more detail.

  3. Rhiannon

As much as I was very wordy in the controlled assessments, I felt that I made good points and explained how the poet presented their attitudes towards conflict throughout the constant use of poetic devices, especially giving an insight on all the possible personas that they poets could’ve conjured up to put their ideas through.

I believe in the mock I developed my paragraphs well and I referred to the poems frequently, however, to improve I should have made the point I was writing about clear and valid to the examiner as this lost me marks.
