Your home-learning is to write student-friendly, but accurate, definitions for the following: to inform; to explain; to persuade; to argue; to comment; and to review. Please write your definitions in your exercise book.

The deadline for this task is Thursday 12 Sep 2013.

    to inform is to give information
    to explain is to make something understandable
    to persuade is to urge somebody
    to argue is to disagree in words or to give reasons for or against a subject
    to comment is to make a remark about something
    to reveiw is to check something
    (basic answer structure took from the merriam webster online dictionary and thesaurus http://www.merriam-webster.com/ )

    INFORM – Give someone facts or information
    EXPLAIN – .Make an idea, situation, or problem clear to someone by describing it in more detail or revealing relevant facts or ideas.
    PERSUADE – Cause someone to do something through reasoning or argument
    ARGUE – Give reasons or cite evidence in support of an idea, action, or theory, typically with the aim of persuading others to share someone’s view.
    COMMENT – A remark expressing an opinion or reaction
    REVEIW – A formal assessment or examination of something.
